Instead of taking that big annual holiday why not look into taking a series of short breaks throughout the year? More and more people have switched their priorities when it comes to travel as it becomes easier to arrange and more affordable, and that is why we are seeing people take multiple trips in a single year. The old way would have been a big summer holiday but here are just some of the benefits of shunning that and opting for a variety of short breaks.
When it comes to booking a big summer holiday people want to do so as early as possible in order to give themselves enough time to save up enough money to enjoy it. Whilst this makes perfect sense, when you book a series of smaller trips you can actually find that it is more cost effective in the long run. You can book a cheap short break on a whim with just a couple of days notice, and this can help you to remove all of the stresses and strains of saving up a large amount of money for a big holiday.
Let’s say that you book a 2 week break to Santorini for your family, you will of course enjoy your time at the beach and discovering the island, but you won’t see much more than that. When you decide to take numerous short breaks however you can count on discovering and exploring a wider variety of destinations. In some cases you will only need 3 or 4 days to scratch beneath the surface and that means that you can enjoy and learn about far more destinations than if you only take one holiday per year.
For most people a summer holiday will include plenty of sun, sea and sand, but that can be quite restricting. If however you were to take a series of small breaks throughout the year then you could still have a summer-style break, but you could also experience different environments and conditions in other countries. If you take short breaks throughout the year then you can see snow and glaciers, lakes and rivers and beach and ocean, why put all of your eggs in one basket?
People look forward to their big summer holiday for a long time but it doesn’t have to be this way. There are few things more depressing than getting back from your summer trip, only to have reality set in and realize that you are almost a year away from your next big holiday. If however you were to take 4 breaks a year then you will never have to wait too long before it is time to get your suitcase prepared once again. This will keep your energy levels up and it will give you a reason to look forward to the not-so-distant future.
Why not give it a try next year, forget the idea of one holiday a year, and take several smaller trips?
